Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures sees 57% surge in take-up
Number of companies committed to report against framework smashes through 500 mark
More than 500 firms have now committed to report in line with the recommendations of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), marking a rise of 57% since January.
British supermarket chain Sainsbury’s, Indian steel and cement firm JSW Group, and American miner Freeport-McMoRan are among the latest recruits, who have all committed to publish TNFD-aligned disclosures as part of their annual corporate reports by 2026.
Other firms include Australian airline Qantas, electronics companies Mitsubishi Electric Corp and Philips, electric utilities EDP, Electrobras and Tokyo Electric Power, and computer hardware company Logitech.
The TNFD made the announcement at COP16, the global biodiversity conference, which is taking place this week in Cali, Colombia.
Publicly-listed companies now signed up to TNFD represent more than $6.5trn in market capitalisation between them, and come from across sectors and markets.
