More than 400 firms committed to nature disclosure by 2025
TNFD launches raft of sector-specific guidance and publishes advice on tackling value chains
The number of companies committed to reporting their exposure to, and impact on, nature has risen 30% this year, and now includes Volvo, China Mengniu Dairy and Acciona.
The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) revealed this week that 96 new firms had signed up to use its corporate reporting recommendations, bringing the total number to 416.
“These organisations have signalled their intention to begin adopting the TNFD recommendations and publishing TNFD-aligned disclosures as part of their annual corporate reporting for FY2024 (or earlier) or FY2025 outcomes,” the body said in a statement.
The announcement came as TNFD released new sector guidance for aquaculture, biotech & pharma, chemicals, electric utilities & power generators, food & agriculture, forestry & paper, metals & mining, and oil & gas.
Consultations were also launched for proposed guidance on fishing; construction materials; beverages; engineering, construction & real estate; and apparel, accessories & footwear.
Further guidance was provided to help companies understand how to analyse the nature-related impacts and risks associated with their value chains.
The finance sector was also provided with updated guidance.
