L’Oreal, Coke and Amazon join list of ‘best climate lobbyists’
InfluenceMap identifies 40 global leaders, including eight new additions to the annual list
L’Oreal, Coca Cola and Amazon are among those added to a list of the companies with the best lobbying practices on climate.
InfluenceMap today released its annual assessment of how often the world’s biggest firms lobby on climate-related policies, and the extent to which those interventions – made either directly or via trade associations – are supportive of the goals of the Paris Agreement.
The think tank identified 40 companies (see below) that are “helping to tip the scales in favour of climate policy ambition”, including eight new additions: General Mills, Biogen, Amazon, L’Oreal, Johnson Controls, Coca Cola, Daiwa House Industry, and Deutsche Telekom.
IKEA, Unilever and dsm-firmenich were named ‘leaders’ in Europe, while Trane Technologies, General Mills and Apple stood out in the US. SoftBank and Ricoh were the top scorers in Asia Pacific.
Indian energy company ReNew Power Private and carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra, and China’s LONGi Green Energy Technology, were namechecked despite being too small to qualify for inclusion in the final list.
InfluenceMap’s analysis is used by many institutional investors to identify which companies to pressure over their lobbying practices. In some cases the data feeds into asset allocation decisions.
