This month’s ESG job opportunities include vacancies at MacDonald’s, 3M, Bayer, GAP and Nasdaq

MacDonald’s is looking for a director of ESG controls, to ensure the firm is able to comply with disclosure rules and other local and national regulation; and to design and enforce related policies internally. The role will involve working with the finance, technology, internal audit and global business services and markets departments. MacDonalds said the candidate must be “comfortable with ambiguity in an evolving ESG landscape”.

American science-based technology company 3M is recruiting a global ESG specialist to identify sustainability issues within the business and keep on top of reporting and disclosure regulations. The successful candidate will work with external experts on key topics including waste, water, energy and emissions, and will help set “actionable recommendations”.

Capital One is hiring a senior associate to focus on ESG reporting, with a focus on climate and greenhouse gas emissions. The lending giant emphasised that the candidate must have a “risk-centric mindset” when dealing with disclosures.

Pharma company AbbVie has advertised for a director of ESG strategy and intelligence to sit within its Corporate Responsibility and Global Philanthropy arm. The role involves assessing an interpreting ESG legislation and wider trends and informing the company’s ESG strategy.The Director also builds business cases to gain senior leadership support for strategies that advance our ESG objectives and leads cross-functional initiatives in pursuit of our ESG goals,” AbbVie said.

Workday is on the hunt for a principle ESG accountant to help it comply with regulation and liaise between different internal departments to steer its ESG strategy and disclosures.

Nasdaq’s ESG advisory practice is adding a lead ESG and climate advisor to its team. The business, which helps companies with their ESG strategies, ratings, target setting and public disclosures, wants someone with at least five years of experience in corporate emissions accounting and experience developing Science Based Targets and decarbonization strategies.

Lululemon is recruiting a climate and energy programme manager, based in Vancouver, to sit within its responsible supply-chain team. The role will focus on reducing the retailer’s Scope 3 emissions, with an emphasis on scaling up opportunities to use renewable energy. Lululemon wants the candidate to have at least 10 years of experience working directly with companies within supply chains on environmental assessments or product efficiency. ​

Shipping specialist Cabka is looking for a junior sustainability manager to work on legal and industry relationships. The Berlin-based firm takes plastic waste and repurposes it to create reusable transport packaging. The candidate will monitor and analyse global regulations and legislation relating to plastics, packaging and recycling, and help the company comply.

Bayer is seeking a US-based senior manager to help it develop its green credentials and disclosures. The pharma giant wants someone who can “drive strategy and provide guidance to senior leadership on emerging trends, regulatory developments, and best practices in sustainability and environmental management, informing decision-making processes and guiding long-term strategic planning”.

GAP is advertising for an ESG controller to help it keep on top of reporting and assurance requirements. The firm said that having prior experience at an audit firm, including the Big Four, would be a plus for the candidate.
